LONE WORKER
The health provision for Lone Workers is found under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. Employers have a responsibility to ensure that where employees are expected to work alone, the working conditions have been fully risk assessed and safe procedures laid down. Employees have a duty to cooperate with these company instructions and avoid risk by operating sensibly.

A lone worker assessment considers a person’s suitability for a role where there will be no other colleagues present. Pre-existing health conditions, medication, and potential health risks are analysed to determine if these may give rise to potential risks risks to health and safety, or affect their ability to do the job.
