Cholesterol
Cholesterol is a substance produced in the body; while useful for cell production, too much of it increases the risk of fatty deposits lining blood vessels and increase the risk of heart disease. Narrowed blood vessels restrict the amount of blood able to flow around the body, and the fatty deposits can cause blood clots to form which may lead to a heart attack.
Cholesterol levels can be controlled through a combination of lifestyle changes, diet, and exercise. The test is performed by a simple prick of a finger to draw a spot of blood.
